Today I decided to read The Secondhand Bookseller. The story being about a girl who develops a love for books to stay out of her mothers way. When reading this it made me wonder why is she trying to stay away from her mother? The positive of doing this allowed her to develop a love for books, this is only allowing her to get smarter. Once getting further in the story I soon learn she has read all the books in the library multiple times. This is crazy to me because when thinking of a library, I think of an endless amount of books. The crazy part of of this situation with her mother is, she felt scared to ask her mom to buy her more books. This being crazy to me because what kind of mother doesn't want to help their kid with their passion. To a nice surprise her mother says she can get her books but it would only be once a month. The unfortunate part of this situation is when being able to read multiple books a month it is hard to go down to just one. When she finally came across a secondhand book store the situation she was in began to be a lot better.
When walking into the bookstore the guy was surprised to see a young girl wanting a book so badly. He began helping her. My thoughts on this incident surprised me; has the adult world lost all hope in young people wanting to read? Although the books were wrote in English it did not stop her from reading. This shows how badly reading meant to this girl. The time came when she was done with the book and she needed a new one. Although these books were secondhand it did not mean they were free. So in order to get a new book she had to sell her stuff to get what she really wanted. This to me showing how responsible this girl really was. Even though she was showing she was responsible she was keeping this all a secret from her mom. In this case I do not agree with this girl. She should have told her mother what was going on at the bookstore. In the end the girl earned money for the book and was surprised to see the bookseller was going to let her borrow the books for free! This allowing the girl to keep reading and unfortunately to stay out of her mothers way. Although I do not agree with this, in the story I wish she would of had an open relationship with her mother on the book situation.I feel like this would of changed the story around for the better. This could have possibly made the mother and daughter form a better bond. She maybe would have not of had to sell some of her things to get the books.

Out With the Old, in With the New #1 Miscellaneous
So this being my first blog I thought what better to blog about than starting a new chapter in my life. Coming out of high school and going to college I feel like I lost part of myself, but gaining something new! Being put in the scary situation of learning a new school all over again is terrifying. Not to mention going into this experience alone does not make the situation any better.
The feelings of being scared can also be replaced with excitement of starting something new. When going to school the only change I had was going from elementary school to junior high and the to high school. These twelve years of being in the same building can begin to get boring. Not to mention having the same classmates can get old, not being able to meet new people. So the positive experience is stepping out into a new building and meeting new people. With this new experience I hope I learn to love this school as much as my other school and meet friends along the way!
Overall having mixed feelings about replacing the old with the new is hard, but I feel like this will turn into great new memories! Looking back on my old memories will be great, but being able to have the experience of starting new ones in a new place with other people is great too. Ways I hope to make new memories is by having new teacher, new classmates, and other things that may come into my life. I hope others feel the same about getting rid of the old and bringing in the new!
