Career Path #2

Today was the day I decided to make a change in my life. I am ready to step out and make a change in life and become more independent. I decided to get job applications, and find a job. Ever since I lost my job at the Village Market I have been unemployed. In August the Village Market closed down causing me to lose my job I had since I was sixteen. Although I loved working at the Village Market the time has come that I find a new job. I cannot continue working my first job forever; my first job had to come to an end at one point. Losing this job came sooner than I thought, but now I can experience something new. I am now hoping I can have a great work experience like my previous job.

I guess I don’t know if I will be getting a job anytime soon, but I hope after putting in my job applications something will come about. I learned from getting my first job it takes time and effort. Right now I am doing all I can, and that’s all anybody could ask. As of now I will continue to do side jobs by babysitting and have a little income coming in. On the bright side I have work experience and plenty of opportunity. I will keep my determination and hopefully find a job that will get me through college. Plus as of right now getting through college is the priority on my list.

Looking Back #4 Miscellaneous

      Yesterday I came to the realization I am growing up. I went to my ten year old sister’s soccer game. The feelings that came to mind was, I remember when I was that age playing soccer. When I was that age I remember how excited I would be all day to play. At the time soccer was so important. Now I have to worry about getting good grades in college, working, and worrying about paying for all of it. The other thing that crosses my mind is I could not wait to grow up. I liked the idea of being independent and providing for myself. I feel this is still an accomplishment, but if I could go back to being care free I would.  On a positive note it was nice being able to see my sister experience the same thing as I did as a kid. I can tell she is following in my footsteps, which I can’t say is a bad thing. My only hope is that she enjoys this experience now, before she grows up and can’t go back. I also learned from watching my sister play soccer I can’t go back to those days but, I can live my life now and enjoy it. Overall it is great to see how life still goes on even when I am not involved with something I use to play. Playing soccer is not the only thing that makes me feel like I am getting older, I am yet to see my softball team play without me. I just have to remember there are so many other things out there for me to experience!

10 Minute Writng Assignment #5 (Once Upon a Time)

                Introduction

The show Once Upon a Time is filled with the old fairytales we all loved when we were younger. The show helps to set these characters in a modern environment as well as the original way they came to exist. The actors and the actresses help to set the plot of this fairytale show is Prince charming (Josh Dallas) whose goal is to fight evil and be with Snow White. Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) also known as Prince Charming’s wife and the Queens enemy is the one to watch. The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) used dark powers to put the characters in the show in a split world. These characters originally grew up in fairytale life, but eventually put in a modern environment because of a curse. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) eventually clash when she is put into the position to save Henry from the dark magic. Henry (Jared Gilmore) a young boy who believes in the fairytales happening throughout the show. He also believes the people he has grown to loved are from the fairytale. If these characters are not enough Rumpestilskin (Robert Caryle) comes into play as the leader of the black magic. These are only some of the characters who are leading viewers in the magical quest of Once Upon a Time. Throughout the show unique form of acting and scripted fight scenes will be presented, different costumes show which setting they are in and as well a new type of setting switching between reality and fantasy.   

Conclusion

With all of these different parts of the show being presented in Once Upon a Time viewers will either love it or hate it. So if a unique form of acting is liked, different costumes, or a new type of setting this is the show to be watched. So step back and enjoy this split modern fairytale filled with twist and magic.

When being assigned to read 007 Is Back, and He’s Brooding, my first thought was A. O. Scott gave a good overview. In the review he told when the movie was coming out which is good because it allows readers to look more into going to the movie. I also liked while reading about the movie is did not give out juicy details of the movie, so if I wanted to see the movie I would still be surprised. The reviewer of the movie also gave a great background of the movie. He told who was in the movie and described the types of characters they would be playing. The reviewer also told about the previous history of the movie. He told how there were previous James Bonds movies, so this helped to describe what kind of movie this would be. This helped not to leave readers in the dark. I also liked how the music was described in the movie. By knowing the music this helps me to understand the feel of the movie. I believe the reviewer did just enough to give readers the feel of the movie

As a reader and reading this review I get the feeling this is an action movie. This review lets me know if I liked the other James Bond movies; I would not be disappointed with this movie. By comparing to other movies I understand completely the type of movie this movie will be. Overall by reading the review I understand the type of movie that is being described.

The hall was silent until she heard the loudest scream ever. The scream was not your normal scream that is heard in a school hallway. The normal scream heard is usually one of a teacher getting screaming at a student, or possibly a scream emphasizing what is read in a story. This scream was one of terror. On this occasion a student was walking in the hallways when he heard a scream, when she went to go see nobody was there. The students in the surrounding classrooms thought the girl was crazy for hearing a scream. The girl began to think maybe they did not hear the scream maybe others in the hallway will know. When she began to ask other students, nobody knew what she was talking about, and began to believe she was crazy as well. As time went on the girl was beginning to think she was crazy, until she heard it again. She turned to the person sitting next to her and said, “Did you hear that scream?” The student said no and she then knew she was the only person hearing these screams.

When she began her investigation she was approached by a student she never met. When the new student began talking to her she received many weird stares from students passing her. The girl asked the new student why people were looking at her funny, the new girl then told her she was a ghost. The girl looked at her in amazement and asked why she could see her then. The ghost responded by saying she was the only one who heard her scream. The girl understood and asked why she was screaming, and the ghost said because she was frustrated she could not pass over to her next like. When the ghost started to explain her only goal in like was to graduate college, and felt like she has unfinished business. The girl then asked how I can help with the unfinished business. The ghost began to say how she was on her way to school ten years ago to turn in her last ten page paper to pass college. She never made it because she was in a car wreck, and died. The ghost then continued to say how her paper made it through the wreck ok and just needed turned in.

The girl asked the ghost to retrieve the paper so she can turn the paper in for her. When the ghost gave her the paper she told her to turn the paper into Mr. Rhodes. When the girl found the teacher he asked how she got the paper. She went onto say how it looked as if it belonged to him. He went onto say how this was from his top student, and how all she needed was this paper to graduate. The girl then never saw the ghost again, and believes her unfinished business was complete and now lives in her next life!

Reader Response 3 "Juno"

 The movie Juno is about a young girl becoming pregnant in high school, the girl had to face the decision on what she was doing with the unborn child. She decides to give it up for adoption to another husband and wife. In the end when it came to them adopting the wife only adopted because she divorced her husband. Throughout the movie Juno and Paulie have feelings for each other through the process of having a baby.  Although Juno did not want to fall in love with him, in the end she could not hide her feelings for him. Although they were having a baby together throughout the movie the awkwardness of liking each other was always being experienced.

I liked the movie because it was different from any other movie I watched. It gave teen pregnancy a sense of humor, something that is not commonly done. When I think of teen pregnancy I think of a serious matter, not being funny. The movie also demonstrates love. In the movie I can see how Paulie and Juno have an awkward love for each other. The love the adopted mother has for the baby can also be seen. For somebody to want a baby so bad and adopts somebody else’s baby, shows how love can be resembled anywhere.  Overall I could get a sense of how each person in the film was affected by Juno being pregnant. It proved with one bad incident it can bring good, and it can also help develop new relationships.

How I Met your Mother "10 Minute Writing Repsonse 3"

When watching “How I Met your Mother” I thought it was an excellent comedy. In the show it showed how we can have a plans for our future, and what we think will happen doesn’t always work. In this episode Ted showed how he just always wanted to be with somebody he loved. Towards the end of the episode it showed he would eventually be with a woman he loves and have a child. This was more than Ted was ever expecting. During the process Ted did have his doubts if he would ever find somebody he loved. In the case for Barney he would always joke around how he wanted his future to stay like his normal life. He wanted to be able to be with different women and not have a stable life. In the end his views changed, he wasn’t afraid to try and make a commitment to be with just one person. Marshall on the other hand new from the beginning he wanted to get married to Lily and have kids. During the process as years went on he seen his dream slipping away when he was never getting married. Eventually things would begin to sort themselves out when Lily and him were still together. By watching this episode the feeling of life working itself out came to mind. From this episode I can see each person had dreams of their future, but feelings and mind change. This causing the outcome to be different than what most people thought it would be. In this case the characters in the episodes lives changed.

Career Path #1

When leaving high school I thought I had my future planned. I knew I wanted to go to Rhodes State College like I am now. At the time I had my heart set on being a Physical Therapist Assistant, which I am currently on the waiting list for. The only problem is I am beginning to second guess myself. I understand most students change their majors, but I never wanted to be one of them. I always liked the thought of pursuing my career as a PTA, but lately I have been having the thought of going into the nursing field. I feel like this would also be a great field to work in. Now that I have these feelings I am beginning to feel unsure about myself. I know when it comes to my career I want to work in the health field, but choosing what is the hard decision for me. Right now I plan to continue to take my basic classes and way out my pros and cons. I will also do more research on both of these careers.

I guess having these mixed feelings now is not a bad thing. It’s only the beginning of my future and I am only nineteen. I have my whole life ahead of me and it is great I am taking the time to choose my career path. Hopefully my time and research will lead me to the right direction, and I will end up with a great career in my future. For those of you facing the same decision as me the advice I was given is “A career is a job that you would want to do for free.” To me this means the most important thing about a career is not the money, but the enjoyment it brings to us!
