Miscellaneous #12

                Today is an exciting day! This will be my last blog; I have finally reached fifty blogs. I never thought this day would come. Unfortunately I still have to comment, but that is not too hard. I actually kind of liked blogging, it is a great way to express myself. I feel like it has also helped me as a writer. I guess it is a bittersweet feeling. I hope you all feel the same way as me, but if not that is okay.

                Yesterday I wrote a blog explaining how my life is changing. Well it did for the better. I finally got a job. I have been trying to get a job all semester, and I finally had some luck. Ever since the Village Market went out of business I have been unemployed, except for babysitting of course. The job I got is at Chiefs in Delphos. Chiefs in a supermarket just like the Village Market, so it is not much of a change for me. This will be great considering I have experience in this field. I will continue working in the deli the same job I had at the Village Market. Overall my life may be changing, but I guess it is for the better. Who know I may like working at Chiefs better than the Village Market. I will just have to find out. Well this is about it, my last blog. I hope everyone is about done with their blogs. Miscellaneous #11

                Wow how my life is changing my first semester is almost over, I am going to job interviews, and my sister is getting married in less than a year. I never thought I would be going through all the changes in life at once. It’s not a bad thing because it keeps life interesting, but it is still scary at the same time. The other changes in life I am facing is a change in friends. I remember thinking in high school my friends and I would be friend’s forever, and I would not need other friends because I had them. I now know people change and this allows more people to be invited into my life, which is a great thing. Who knew I would be such great friends with a person in my chemistry class. The funny thing is we scheduled are classes the same.

                The other change in my life is my sister moving on into a new life. It is scary that my sister won’t be living with me next year. My older sister is just not my sister she is by best friend. It hard to believe I grew so close with her this past year, and soon she will be moving out. I am very happy for her, but I am just not a person who likes change. The great part is I will get her room and a new hang out spot at her house. I haven’t told her that yet. I just might keep that a secret for now. Now I guess I will just embrace the changes in my life!

Other Class #10 Computer Class

                Yesterday was a great day; I have just now completed my computer class! It is not like the class was hard or anything, but it is great knowing I have the class done. I now can leave school early on Tuesday’s. Although the class was not supposed to be over until next Tuesday I finished my last assignment yesterday. I could have left early, but I decided I wanted to get the class over with. On my last day of class we learned about PowerPoint. Of course I had no problem learning this material, because I did PowerPoint all though high school. I think I even learned Power Point in sixth grade. So never less to say I knew PowerPoint pretty good. I feel as if our teacher knew we known how to do PowerPoint, but she felt it would be a good refresher for all of us.

                Now that my first semester is coming to an end, I now have three of my classes done with. The three classes that I have done are Sociology, First Year Experience, and of course my computer class. Being able to accomplish finishing these classes feel great and it makes me want to get my other class done with as well. The current classes that I need to finish are Com 110, my math class, and Chemistry. Of course with all the classes I have taken these are my hardest courses. Although I want to be done I have to remember work still needs to be done in the classes, and I will have to finish strong, but for now I will still be happy that I just finish one of my college classes!

10 Minute Writing #15

                Today in class we played jeopardy, with all questions having to do with Com 1110. In the game our class broke up into three teams with five members on each team. The questions consisted from previous reading to quoting and paraphrasing. All of these subjects we have learned already, but were put to the test of us knowing the material today. I liked playing jeopardy today because it really put us on the spot to know the material. Unlike other days we will just talk about the material as a class, but today we were truly tested. It really made learning so much more fun. I also feel like I learned a lot today. I feel as a student I am not the best at paraphrasing or quoting, but when I see certain questions being asked it almost answered my questions. I felt like it was a nice review for when writing our papers for class as well. Also being able to talk about the questions also helped to express what I thought about the material. When being on the spot and wanting to win it helped each group member to want to dig deep in order to say the right answer. I also feel like today really helped me learn to cite sources and give credit to the authors. Overall I feel like todays class was a success. Being able to review the material we have been learning throughout this semester was nice. I hope everyone in our class feels the same, and if not I am sure you took something positive away from class!

Career Path #5

                Last week I went to the hospital for a drug test. I know this sounds bad, but it was mandatory for the job I am applying for.  So the drug test was not a bad thing because I knew before I even took the test that I passed. When I was in the hospital it got me thinking about my career path. Here I am trying to apply for a minimum wage job, in order to pay for school to be a Physical Therapist Assistant. While I was at the Hospital it made me happy that I have chosen this field. I realized I don’t want to work as a nurse. Being a nurse was my second choice. I did not like the atmosphere as much as the Physical Therapist Assistant atmosphere. I feel like Physical Therapy can be intense, but it is not as strict as nursing. Nurses can be put is stressful situations, and I don’t know if I could deal with. This made me feel like I have made the right choice picking Physical Therapy. Now that I am sure I feel like I am working harder to complete this goal. I know what I want in my future, and now is the time to work towards this goal. So for now I just need to keep working hard at school, and hopefully get a minimum wage job. I just cannot wait for the day I am working in the career I want to be in. I must say the day cannot come soon enough!

Miscellaneous #10

                The bad news is today is Sunday, and Thanksgiving break is almost over. I must say I had a good break and I am not ready to go my classes. I loved having free time and spending it with friends and family. Over break I was able to hang out with friends that I have not seen in forever. Like I mentioned previously we had Friendsgiving. During this we were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with each other. I also celebrated Thanksgiving with family. Like every year we get to together with each side to catch up and celebrate the holidays. I must say it was nice seeing all of these people again, and talking about how our lives are going.

                During break I also went Black Friday shopping. Every year I feel like Black Friday shopping gets even crazier. The fact that people don’t care about one another is truly heart breaking. I understand most people want the same items, but I still feel people should treat people with respect. While some people were rude others were very nice. I was waiting in line to get a printer and this guy was very nice. When it came time to get the printer he made sure I got mine before he got his. Overall I feel like if you treat people with respect you will get respect back. Just because others are rude does not mean I have to be rude too. The great part is I had a great break, and I am ready to get back into school mode!

Reading Response #8 Burnett

                Burnett is well known for being associated with things relating to the environment. He often makes appearances in newspapers, along with radio shows. In this article Burnett is making the proposal on how to improve forest management. The problem starts with conservatives and liberals arguing on how to spend money for the environment. The problem with spending money on recreation for the environment is this program loses money. When it comes to recreation use hikers, birders, and campers do not make the environment money. The other program losing money is loggers. This program did not lose as much money as the recreation fund though.

                Although these other parks lose money, the parks making money are the state and county forest. The reason these parks make money rather than lose money is for the fact that nations parks cost more to take care of. Although these are both parks they both have different argument made about them. Burnett explains since state parks are doing better than national parks, that if the state can make a positive outcome of the park, the state will be able to run the park. Overall I think this is a good idea. The reason is if a park can contain the nature feel, and not lose money it would be a great outcome. I feel if parks can make money it will help our economy. Why keep spending money on parks that lose money, it will only keep putting out country in debt. Burnett did an excellent job explaining how national and state parks work. Until this article I did not know the difference.
