Change in Music Miscellaneous #6

Today I realized this once fan of rock music has changed to a foot tapping country fan. I should have suspected my change in music I listen to was making an appearance when I started to change the station from rock to country. Don’t get me wrong I always did like some country music, but I was never a big fan. The crazy part is I now sing along, and catch myself singing the songs when no song is even playing. In the past I would tell people to turn off the country music, but now I enjoy the music. The reason for this change is I hang out with people who always listen to country, so I believe it just slowly started to grow on me. It could be possible with the change from high school to college I possibly could have changed as a person. The other theory is I never gave country a chance and was too quick to judge the music. I still love rock music, but these days country music is out numbering my rock music on my IPod. Not only has my music style changed to country, but so has my clothes. I use to wear rock t-shirts. These days cowgirl boot have snuck into the closet, along with the occasional plaid. It could be because these types of clothes can be seen in stores. I guess change is not bad, and there is nothing wrong with liking new things. I just never thought in a million years I would listen to country, and wear cowgirl boots!

  1. Ha-ha, I have definitely been there, too. After years and years of listening to alternative rock, I am actually now a big techno/dubstep fan. It sounds so weird I know, but after giving it a chance, I actually often catch myself dancing to fast drum beats and twisty turny synch sounds. It is slightly even ironic because of the fact that I used to “make fun” of music genres such as these because I always thought it sounded like “computer farts” ha-ha. I guess, related to what you said, that I never really gave it a good listening or any chance what so ever. After I actually listened to it, and gave it a go, so to speak, I really fell in love with it. If I am home and really bored, I will just blast techno music and dance the day away. It sounds weird, I know, but heck, what can ya do. I think another thing that made me like this particular genre of music is that I started meeting and hanging out with new people who helped introduce this genre to me. A second genre of music that I found I really enjoy now is classical music. Basically, I find classical music interesting now because of the fact that any type of music theory located in any genre of music, such as rock or hip hop, can be traced and originated in classical music. Also, I think classical music actually makes me study better. Maybe it is just a psychological thing, I don’t know. Don’t get me wrong, I will still be rocking with my hands in the air, but there will always be a part of my heart in techno and classical music.
