Career Path #3

Last Tuesday I sat down with my advisor to talk about where I am at on the waiting list for the Physical Therapy program. I was so glad to finally know I just need to take one more math, and I will finally be on the list. It’s exciting to know with hard work I will finally be on the list and eventually be able to take the classes. It was great how he left me know I am still able to test out of a math class, and I will be able to take the higher math offered. I have to say he did an excellent job laying out my options, and I can take other classes for other careers while I wait on the list. I have decided if I have to wait to get in the program I will take classes for phlebotomy. This is a great pick for the fact most of my classes I am taking now I need for this program. So I will just need a few more classes to get the certification. It will be way better being able to be productive rather than doing nothing. My advice to all Rhodes students is if you’re unsure about any classes or the program you’re in, go to your advisor. The process of sitting down with them will make you feel so much better about the whole college process. I will for sure make an appointment for the next semester, just to make sure I am doing everything right.

  1. I totally agree and I think that if anyone needs any help with anything to definitely talk with your advisor. I haven't actually seen my advisor in person, but I have emailed him quite a few times over the last quarter and this semester. At the beginning of the year college was just really confusing me to and I had really no idea what I was doing. I went in and talked to an advisor even before I signed up to go to Rhodes and they really helped me figure out everything financially and academically. That's awesome that you only have to take one more class then you'll be on the list! It really just give you that push to want to do better and to want to try harder in order to get into the program.. at least for me it did ha! I believe I'm already on my list because I took the courses I needed to qualify for the list last quarter. They have me predicted to start in my clinicals in Fall 2014. Although it's still longer than I want it to be, at least I'm on the list and it could end up being sooner depending if people drop out or whatever the circumstance might be. While I wait I'll just work in the meantime and save up some money and see what happens from there. Overall, it's really good to talk to someone about anything if you have questions. There are so many people at our school to help you and I think that's something really great and that I love about Rhodes.
